Making Changes and EntreCard Spam

Where I've Been

Been a while since I posted here. The blogosphere is a fickle place. Heh, the world is a fickle place. And I'm pretty fickle, too, which is probably why I quit posting once there was no longer anything "in it" for me.

I was doing the "paid to post" thing and got burned. Er, "dropped" is more like it. And that's okay. The concept made me uncomfortable to begin with. A good percentage of blogs are just "noise" anyway, making searches to find what you're after all the more frustrating. When that noise is amplified by paid content and splogginess? God help us. The bing ads ring so true.

So, I'm trying to figure out other ways to earn my keep without having to tax my poor feeble body with a 40-hour, 9-5 weekday grind.

What's To Come

I don't know what will come of this blog. The domain name will definitely be released. EntreCard will be gone. You know why? SPAM!

EntreCard Spam

I sign up to most things with aliased email addresses, courtesy of SaferSignup.com (great service), so I know exactly who is sending me what. I'm very strict about my alises, and don't reuse them. I added two blogs to my EntreCard account, using two different aliased email addresses. As of January 2010, I started getting spam at both of those addresses. Was EntreCard hacked? Does it sell/give its members' addresses to spammers? Or just the inactive ones as a form of punishment?

I've tried searching this topic and can't seem to find anyone else with this problem. I can't understand how it's just me.

Anyway, I will be dumping EntreCard regardless. And I will never look back. They weren't very useful, anyway. Whatever traffic came in was superficial and artificial. The constant dropping one had to do to keep traffic flowing felt akin to plate-spinning. Not for me. So, see ya, you worthless, spam-friendly service. You won't be missed.
